Church Discipline Question

Throwaway account.

An inappropriate physical contact occurred between an unmarried man and married woman in our congregation. The unmarried man is a leader in the church and will likely lose his position. The married woman is a host of a "small/community group" with her husband.

The husband is showing immense grace. This incident occurred less than a week ago, and she has confessed and repented.

Is there still a need for official "church discipline"? It is my understanding that communion may be withheld while the person is unrepentant, but in this case, she has confessed and repented. I suppose the unrest I'm having is that it just seems that she thinks that this can all just go away. When in reality the man involved will most certainly be under discipline and will lose his job. My guess is he will end up going to another church and we will have to make sure that wherever he goes knows that he is under discipline and that we would be willing to work with that church for reconciliation. His professional life will be marred, while she will just "carry on".

Any prayers, thoughts or suggestions, greatly appreciated.
