Climate Change and the Church?

Could someone help me sort out some things about Christian reactions to climate change? I'm no environmental "activist" or anything, but I think climate change is a real thing that will present some challenges for certain regions in regards to issues such as food production, forest fires, pest issues, etc. I certainly don't think the world is going to end or humanity is trouble. However, it seems like the vast majority of conservative and/or reformed folks around me view climate change as practically heresy. I think they see it as attacking the sovereignty of God over nature. Is there any truth to this? I think part of the issue is that when these folks think of "climate change" they think of it as this event that's going to wipe out life as we know it.

Any thoughts?
