Communal Living. Any experiences, stories, or thoughts on it?

I have just read some short essays by Charles E. Moore and Andy Crouch. They make is sound like a normal thing, or at least, should be a normal thing, for married people, their children, and unmarried people to live together in a house together and share a bank account. I have been part of the church for 25+ years and have never really heard of that. I wanted to gather some thoughts on the topic.
