Fasting stories?

What's the longest you've gone without food? How about without food or water? What's been your experience with how fasting made you feel? Did it have a spiritual effect on you? Are there purely secular reasons for fasting (e.g., health benefits)? If so, how do you fast with the health benefits in mind without "tainting" the spiritual aspect? Or do these questions overthink the practice of fasting?

Is the spiritual discipline of fasting not for modern times? Is it not taught as often as it should be in our churches? If so, why do you think that is?

These are some of the questions I've been thinking about lately. I recently "water fasted" (meaning, I drank water but had nothing else) for 48 hours. I was planning on going 96 hours but my wife REFUSED to let me skip the dinner she made on hour 48.

Do y'all have any stories or thoughts on fasting?
