Looking for Recommended Commentaries/ Resources

This year, I'm planning to take one book of the bible each month and do as much in depth study and learning as possible. Right now I'm focussing on the book of Romans, and I'm learning a lot already. For the past few years I've been reading the whole Bible over the course of the year. I've found this doesn't allow me enough time to dig as deep as I'd like in certain areas and topics, though I still find such reading plans useful, just in a different way. Does anyone have recommendations of certain commentaries or authors that they've found helpful?

I'm also having a hard time choosing what other books I want to study in the upcoming months. My list isn't set yet, but I'm hoping to do 1-3 John (one month), Ecclesiastes, James … and the rest I haven't decided upon yet
