I need some help with a debate

a couple weeks ago I brought raised an issue between my pastor and i on this forum. since then I have done some research and am having a hard time with something. I had listened to a debate between james white and Leighton flowers about Romans 9, and I texted her and told her I didn't realize how big of a debate it was. I would post a screenshot but don't know how so here is her response:

(1/3) First the chapter sections were not originally there. Read chpt.8,9,10. Paul is sad about the Jews not recognizing Jesus as savior. With Jacob and Esau it

(2/3) was foretold older will serve younger before they were chosen or seen for who they were. God was making a determination not based on any works. He will

(3/3) have mercy…..not based on works. God uses us to reveal his power to others. A shame the Jews are not listening. Chpt. 10 it is by faith we are saved.

now I would normally study and come up with a response, but I am tying to get into college and have to study for stuff like that. So here is my question, can anybody give me an idea of where to go with this?

how much time do you spend?

I feel I may annoy some of you with my very basic questions so for that I apologize. How much time do you spend studying the bible as opposed to listening to preachers teaching the bible. I have a job where I can listen to my headphones all day, but find myself "tuning out" if I listen to an audio book of the bible. Also my wife doesn't care for the same preaching style I prefer ( washer vs andy stanley) so listening or watching at home isn't an option.

again, if I bother you with my basic questions I apologize.

reformed methodist

I was raised methodist and when my pastor recommended I read velvet Elvis by Rob bell, my ears perked up to what was actually being taught. At my last trustees meeting, she even joked that she was gonna have to beat the calvanist out of me. I've begun listening to John Macartur, John piper, Paul washer (my favorite), and rc sproul. I purchased Sproul's book what is reformed theology and find much of it goes over my head. any recommendations to help me get my head around the different teachings, or just struggle through it and eventually I'll understand much better.
