Okay so, basically I'm a part of this Christian group on my college campus called Chi Alpha. They're a non-denominational Christian ministry that's tied with local Assemblies of God churches. I joined that organization like my freshman year of college and now i'm a sophmore. I became a Christian only a semester after joining Chi Alpha( I was still living a very sinful life that 1st semester I was in Chi Alpha and in the past during my high school years). Ever since I was young I grew up in a very weird "Church" environment.. mostly prosperity gospel/word of faith and Charismatic. And ever since I came to know Christ he has been revealing a lot of things to me about these movements and led me to a good Baptist Church and other good preachers like John Macarthur, RC Sproul, and Francis Chan and etc. Now I'm mostly Reformed and have no doubt that Reformed theology is more Biblical, but I got involved with this group when I met one of the small group leaders my Freshman year at this Booth thing they have at my University. I became good friends with my small group leader and my small group friends. I think she helped me a lot in the initial stages when I was learning about the gospel and etc. Anyhow, I attend that small group or bible study weekly and have been for about a year now. So my friend who leads the small group has recently been asking me to be more involved in the Organization and I don't really feel comfortable doing that. Like she asked me to go on Chi Alpha conferences with the small group so that I can be "Baptized by the Holy Spirit" and speak in tongues. Apparently i'm not spirit filled yet or something.I love my friend but I don't agree with a lot of Chi Alpha's doctrine.. I'm not sure how to tell her that without upsetting her.
