Unpopular opinion: thinking Biblically about pets

I think Christians need to rethink our culture's ideas about pets. Animals aren't humans, so we shouldn't treat them like humans. Treating animals like humans is wrong; whether sexually (beastiality) or socially (social beastiality?). Also, I think we are missing the priorities: taking care of our families and helping the poor. We're replacing children with dogs and cats. The Bible says be fruitful and multiply; I know people treat their pets like their babies, but they aren't, so having pets doesn't count as obedience. And, there are billions of poor starving humans — why spend hundreds or thousands of dollars on an animal? God says we'll be judged for how we treat the "least of these" and He's talking about people not animals. Also, we need to beware the danger of worshiping animals like the radical environmentalists and pagans.
